Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay was born on the 24th of August 1972 on the 24th of August 1972 in Long Beach California. As a child DuVernay's Aunt Denise inspired her love of artistic expression and creative thinking. Aunt Denise, who worked night shifts as a nurse, allowed her to study literature for art as well as theater during daylight hours. In the year 1990, she graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood California. DuVernay began producing television news when she was just a student. Her first job was working as an intern at CBS News during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay was able to recall being assigned the responsibility of looking over the home and looking through the waste of one of members of the juries. Her disappointment was evident in her journalism tasks and decided to move into the field of public relations. DuVernay began her career as a junior publicity assistant at a small film studio following her graduation from the college. She founded The DuVernay Agency, her company for public relations in 1999.
