Maureen O'Hara Biography

 Maureen O'Hara is a famous American actor and singer, both of Irish origin. The green-eyed beauty with flaming red locks was well-known for her fiery and passionate parts in numerous American films. Her glamour and beauty were awe-inspiring. She was also referred to as the Queen Of Technicolor' in Hollywood. Her roles onscreen were a reflection of her brave, strong character. She fought for recognition and survival in the male-dominated world. She was referred to as the "tough Irish girl" and refused to compromise her standing or respect in order to obtain the roles she earned through merit. She was a vocal supporter of women's roles in television and film, and gained a large following in the process. Her autobiography, "Tis Herself", was released in 2004. It was an honest and open narrative of her life including the struggles she faced when climbing the ladder of success. She was an active woman who was not frightened of doing her own stunts. In the course of her career she appeared in over 60 films and earned lots of attention throughout the world. She got married in 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former air force pilot brigadier and chief who was a pioneer in transatlantic aviation. O'Hara finally retired after a couple of years of marriage. But her joy was fleeting when Blair lost her life in a devastating plane crash in the year 1978. The same year, she was diagnosed with having uterine cancer . She had to undergo urgent surgery. The cancer eventually cleared. Her health began to decline throughout her life and she was diagnosed with six heart attacks, short term memory loss and diabetes mellitus type 2. O'Hara, who was 95 years old aged, passed away peacefully in Boise (Idaho) on the 24th of October 2015.
