Naomi Watts

 

Naomi Ellen Watts was born 28 September 1968. She made her debut in film in Australia in For Love Alone (1986) which was followed by three television shows: Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ (911) and Home and Away (1991) and Flirting (1991). After making the move to the United States, Watts initially was a struggle as an actress acting in small-scale film until she appeared in David Lynch's psychological thriller Mulholland Drive in 2001 as an actress in training. Her rise to fame internationally was due to this part. Watts was then in the role of a tortured journalist in The Ring (2002). In her role as grieving mother in the Alejandro film 21 Grams, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Her popularity has grown when she was featured in I Heart Huckabees (2004). King Kong (2006), Eastern Promises ((2007)) and The International (2009). Watts was also nominated for the Academy Award as Best Actress for her role in The Impossible (2012). She appeared in films such as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014) and While We're Young (2015). Watts also continued to appear in blockbusters and appeared in the Divergent franchise (2015-2016).
